AC1000 R6080 won’t connect to IP Address

Okay so my router all of a sudden doesn’t recognize my IP address. The internet light is amber. I’ve tried all sorts of resets. How can I figure this out?!

  • What modem/gateway do you have it connected to?

what firmware is on the router?

    do wired devices work?

Not sure about modem! Think it’s the new fiber setup though! The city installed it! Just updated the firmware V1.0.0.46. Don’t have any wired devices that I can use to check!

Check the modem/gateway/ont. You can get nat issues if the gateway has its own integrated router (which many do)

    What does that mean?

    Which IP address?

Your WAN (Internet) IP address, or something local?

Many Internet service providers don't allocate a WAN IP address to customers. They work on the basis of "Get Dynamically from ISP".

By the way, you said later:

Think it’s the new fiber setup though!

These days fiber services, and most newer Internet connections are faster than 100 Mbps, sometimes a lot faster. If your ISP is >100 Mbps. you might want to ditch your router.

According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information, the LAN and WAN support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than many newer internet services and most modern network hardware.
