DNS resolution slower through router

I am trying to set up Outlook 2016 with an outlook.com account. It times out when it searches for the site.

I unplug the router and plug the modem directly into my computer. Try again.

It does not time out. It finds outlook.office365.com without issue.

Are there configuration setting I can check in my Netgear NETGEAR WNDR4300

I set it up using the set up wizard. The DNS setting is Get automatically from ISP.

The IP address is get dyamically from ISP.

Thanks. The issue turned out be different than excpected but only discovered through using a utility.

      I used this

      https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/

it actually told me that the problem was with my installation of Outlook. Why it worked when connected directly is sort of unexplained. But the tip off was not having the problem on multiple computers and no issue connecting through wifi when setting up the same account with difffernt apps.

      Thanks for the info
