Hi zips-fpv,
Are you using a Gmail account? If yes, the steps below may help out.
1. Log in to your Gmail then go to Settings.
2. Click on Accounts and Import then click Other Google Account settings.
3. Go to Security Check-up.
4. Click on Disable access on less secure apps.
5. Select the radio button to turn ON Access to less secure apps.
6. To test if it will send the logs via email, go to the router logs option on the router's GUI then click on Send Log.
7. You should now receive the router logs.Regards,
Dexter

I have the same problem - same error messages - on an R6400 with my email provider 1&1. It used to work on an R6220 but I suspect that 1&1 may have enforced better security in the couple of months since I last used it.
As a workround I set up a MTA (exim4) on an RPi on the LAN.
