Extend Wifi from R6400 to WNR2000

Hi! I need some help with extending/repeating my wifi-signal to my basement for my beer brewing hardware inside an refrigerator. I have two Netgear routers: one new R6400 (V1,I think) and one older: WNR2000 V2.

Best scenario is to extend the internet signal from the R6400 to the WNR2000 wirelessly, and have the WNR2000 create a completely new wifi and different signal, only for the beer equipment. Exactly this is working for me right now, except that it's not wireless.. It works through a 10m cable between the routers. But I have two different wifi networks from the two routers.

Is it possible for the WNR2000 to pick up the wifi signal from the R6400 and "transform" it to a new wifi signal? Exactly like with cable, but without the cable...

Next best scenario is to use the WNR2000 as a extender/repeater. Is this possible in worst case?

One follow up question: I have a spare Apple Airport Express at home, can I make this unit work as an extender for Netgears routers instead of my old router?

As above - the AE can either act as a NAT router, or configured as a wireless access point (LAN connected) only.
