Ghost Router
When I check my network I get neighbor's routers. Most are weak signals. But I always get, as #2 a
router with a signal that matches my r7000. Also, its name starts with "NETGEAR98-arlo" and I have
no arlo device. Only mine shows as connected. If my signal drops so does its; if I change the channel,
so does its. Both have AES encryption. It shows up in the internet access in the tray but doesn't in
Control Panel. Am I being spied upon?
Thanks all for the replies and suggestions. After some further exploration I learned what the cause was. It seems Netgear thinks it's a good idea to "enable" Arlo for prior customers of their products. I found a way to disenable it and the arlo registration has disappeared. I must say, it seems overly pushy and promotional to do this without an explanation or prior consent of the user. I wasted a lot of time over it as well as concern as to its cause.

Am I being spied upon? You are not being spied on your location is closed enough to the router's location that you see it on your wifi scan and your more then likely using the default settings of router I would change the ssid and passphease of your wifi. The NETGEAR98-arlo is more then likely their camera's wifi set up.

As you can see from my prior post, I found the solution to this ghost in my network. No, this NETGEAR2-arlo title isn't a neighbor -- it's Netgear promoting their new arlo line by "enabling" arlo on customers' routers.

Is is showing up when you run wireless scan or really is it part of your home network?
