How do I use my own router instead of the one my ISP gives

I recently changed ISP to At&t U-verse (my only choice), they gave me the NVG599 modem with built in router.  I have a Netgear N900 that I want to use, how would I do that? I read that the NVG599 doesn't have a "bridge mode" button so you have to do it yourself. Would be fantasic if someone were to guide me in doing this. Thank You!

  • I like these instructions.  They're for the NVG589 but they will work on the NVG599, as well.

Note, the NVG599 should have better Wi-Fi than your N900 because it supports 802.11ac.  Of course, your devices also need to support 802.11ac to take advantage.  Don't mistake me, I'm all for installing one's own router, especially for control.  It's what I do.   But if speedy Wi-Fi is what you are after, a N900 might be a step down.
