Issues with connectivity when hardwired to my router but not when hardwired to my router.

Hello,

I am having issues getting my game launcher to connect to the servers so I can play my MMO *FFXIV). When I am hardwired into the modem, I run into no issues. However, the moment I hardwire back into the router I am back to connectivity issues.

I have tried resetting both the router and the modem (seperately and together) as well as resetting the computer. This does not fix the issues. I have manually opened the requisite ports that the game uses in the manual settings of the router but this still does not address the issue. I'm not sure if the router is broken/malfunctioning or if I have some setting toggled on that is causing issues.

*on a side note* this also affects my Ipad when connecting to applications or websites. I have to disconnect from the wifi, then reconnect a couple of times before I can actually use the internet.

Router: AC1750 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router. Connected to PC with CAT5e.

CAT5e cable is fully functional as it works perfectly when connected to just the modem.

  • 1. what modem/gateway do you have?

    2. what firmware is on the router?

    3. Did this just start or how long has it been doing on for?

    4. Are you using ipv6? (try enabling it)

    5. have you tried a different dns provider like googles at 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4?

My Modem is an Arris Surf SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

      The Firmware Version is: V1.0.4.120_10.0.91

I don't know exactly how long, but its been going on for a couple months now.

I have just enabled the IPV6 though i have never used it before today (new to me).

and I don't know much about DNS.

You can try the ipv6 and the dns option.

If they dont' help, try downgrading the firmware a version.

you put in your signature you have the R6020 but that doesn't match up with your firmware.
