My R6080 seems to be throtteling youtube ever since i updated it.

As the title says. My router have been working fine until around 2 weeks ago when i updated my router with the latest firmware. I have this across all my platforms (2 phones and a stationary computer). Anyone got any clues as to what the problem can be? all other sites works fine and i have around 90mbit/s according to speedtest.

  • Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Try a wired connection vs wireless connection...

  • A factory reset isn't going to do much, if anything, for your router.

The R6080 is one of those strange Netgear routers with slow ethernet ports.(They actually label them "Fast", which was fine back in the 20th Century.)

According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information, the LAN and WAN ports support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than many newer internet services and most modern network hardware. This may not matter to you, but be warned that it will hobble you if you ever sign up for faster Internet, anything faster than 100 Mbps is a waste of your money.

It also slows down whatever is going on in your local network. Newer devices support at least 1000BASE-TX.

The speed you see, 90 Mbps, is probably the limit as far as 100BASE-TX goes.

How fast us your Internet connection?

If your ISP is delivering >100 Mbps. you are wasting money.
