Netgear WNDR4500 - Samba Problems/Linux Mint 20.3
Good evening,
I recently purchased a Netgear WNDR4500. It was a step up from an older model router, which worked fine but was very slow. That router, however, also worked with my Linux computer where the newer model I now have does not. I have tried everything suggested to me in the Linux Mint forums, but to no avail.
Basically what I'm getting is an error message that says "Unable to mount location. Failed to receive share list from server: No such file or directory." Since I've exhausted all options trying to configure my Linux installations, I'm hoping someone here might have any suggestions, maybe a setting that needs to be changed in the router itself.
If someone can help me out I'd be much obliged. Thank you for your time.

Crikey, you had something older than thew WNDR4500? It dates back to 2013 and the last version (V3 hardware) came out in 2015.

It does not care which operating system is talks to, as long as it supports a browser that can get into the graphical user interface .
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
SMART Wi-Fi, General and Legacy Routers - NETGEAR Communities
You might like to search there for messages related to your router.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.- montyri345Aspirant
Ensure proper firewall settings: If you have a firewall enabled on your Linux Mint system, make sure it allows Samba traffic. You may need to configure your firewall to permit Samba file sharing. Check user permissions: Ensure that the user account you're using on Linux Mint has the necessary permissions to access the Samba shares. You can try accessing the shares using the "Connect to Server" option in the file manager and providing appropriate credentials.
