Nighthawk R6700 failed to optain IP address

Nighthawk R6700 firmware V1.0.2.16_10.0.57

Started upgrading home and adding smart switches, thermostates, garage door openers...  Started having issues with devices going offline at random times.  I read about adding a separate router just to handle the smart devices.  Still having same  issues so trying to isolate.

Here is what I've discovered.  If I program the routers 2.4ghz channel with the SSID that all the smart devices try to connect to.it stops assigning IP addresses when new devices try to connect.. On devices I can hard program a static IP address it will work.  But other wise I get "Failed to obtain IP address"

If I change to a different SSID so the other devices can't hookup.  The devices that were getting "Fiailed to optain IP address"  hookup with no issue.

So I'm assuming the system somehow becomes overloaded when I use the one SSID and stops assigning IP addresses   Their are appox 32 devices that connect when the one SSID is active.

Any suggestions?.

Claims have been posted here about a 32-device limit per radio.  (The
router as a whole should be able to handle more.)

Adding a wireless access point should let you spread the devices
across more radios.  Or, if you have devices which can use the 5GHz
band, or wired connections, then move them.

I discovered that my xfinity modem/router was not in the bridged mode once I bridged it, reset the system with my Orbi RBR750 as the main router and hooked up the additional router everything is working fine.  I now have well over 40+ smart devices hooked up and operational.  We'll see how reliable it is in the coming weeks.
