PC keeps switching from ethernet connection to wifi

I have a Netgear AC1750, model R6400.

I have my home desktop PC hooked up by ethernet cable.  For some reason, the router doesn't always recognized that it should connect through ethernet cable and prompts me to select a wifi instead.  Do you know why this is and how I can get it to always connect through my ethernet cable. We have several laptops that use the wifi but my PC needs to be through ethernet.  I don't know a lot about this so I'm hoping someone can help please.  Maybe it's a set up thing?

Thanks,

  • Hi PaulaP,

You can try temporarily disabling the wireless adapter on the computer so that the only active connection is the one for Ethernet. You can go to the Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > Right click on the wireless adapter > Disable.
