Problems connecting to a Google Nest
Hi all
I am a complete novice on setting up networks so need simple instructions.
Recently purchased a Nighthawk Voice Cable Modem (CM1150V)
Installed and activated modem with IS provider and have access to internet so seems to be functioning properly.
Having issue with connecting Google Nest Router.
Google Home sees the router & walks throught the setup steps until i come to the searching for internet...which fails as not found...have rebooted several times to no avail.
Does this modem support this Google router as I was told it would?
Does anyone have suggestions...
Thanks

Having same issue over past couple days. Was able to swap out my old modem for this one in about 15 mins, confirming I had both voice access (telephone worked) and had my laptop direct connected via ethernet cable to port 1 on modem. Activated with XFinity successfully, checked a couple web pages and then ran some speed tests which all came back great..
Then went on to stop two, which was to connect Nest Wifi Router. Google home walks you through this process and every time I thought it was close (system messages indicated progress), it would always end that it couldn't establish an internet connection and I'd need to unplug and reboot modem.
1. Do a full network restart, if possible - this will allow your modem and your Google Nest wifi to reestablish connections. Here’s how to do it properly.- Disconnect the power cable and Ethernet cable from the Google Nest wifi router.
- Disconnect the power cable from the modem.
- Allow the power to stay disconnected from both for 5 minutes.
- Connect the power back to the modem only and wait for it to fully boot back up.
- All lights should be lit up before moving to the next step.
- After the modem is back online, connect the Ethernet cable to Google Nest wifi router’s WAN port.
- Connect the power back to the Google Nest wifi router.
- Allow the it point to be fully back on.
2. Turn OFF Mobile Data/Cell data and Turn ON Bluetooth on the setup device.I've been at this for two days now and have talked multiple times with XFinity and Netgear but only online support from google so far. Gone around & around and everytime I'm unsuccessful with router, I need to power down/reboot modem some my hardwired ethernet internet connection works again.Beyong exasperated. Anyone have advice?- PanzzzzzAspirant
Did either of you figure this issue out? I am having the same problem with a CM1200 modem and the Google Nest Router.

Hi WINZIGG and Panzzzzz,
Good day!
Welcome to NETGEAR Community!
First of all, we do apologize for the inconvenience of not getting back to you immediately due to the backlog in the system. Were you able to contact Google for this matter? Is there an error message when you setup the Google Nest router to your modem? Was the router working before or to another modem?
Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need further assistance.
Regards,
Oliver
