R6100 w/ no active LAN ports, after reset, can I access router wirelessly
I have full use of the WIFI aspect of my R6100 router. None of the LAN ports work w/ any of my devices (TV, desktop, laptop). I use both frequencies, 2.5 and 5, and both work w/ my devices. I've done the WAN to LAN port test and get blue and amber LEDs lit up, so I guess the LAN ports are "active". I've unplugged modem and router, multiple times and still have same situation. I'm left w/ doing a reset to default settings.
If I do that, and the LAN ports still don't work, (making hard wire router setup impossible) will I be able to access the router wirelessly to re-set my security settings? I'd still like to be able to use the WIFI function while a wait for a new router to be delivered. Sorry if this is a foolish question, but I don't want to be left stranded for a few days by doing the reset.
Thanks all

Before you do the reset, you might want to read the User Manual.
Especially the part where it explains how to configure the router. I
quote (page 14):
2. Make sure that your computer or wireless device is connected to
the router with an Ethernet cable (wired) or wirelessly with
the preset security settings listed on the bottom label.
Visit http://netgear.com/support (while you still can), put in your
model number, and look for Documentation.

There are many kinds of "don't work". Which one is this? Are there
any actual symptoms which you can report?
Did this stuff ever work in the past, and now it's bad, or did you
never have working LAN ports? If never (or if only with some other
router), then it's possible that your wired devices are configured with
incompatible (static) IP addresses.

Which "the WAN to LAN port test" is that? Are there LED (or other)
indicators on any of these devices which tell you if the cable
connection is good?
Does "desktop" mean a PC running some version of Windows? If so,
then in a Command Prompt (CMD.EXE) window, what does "ipconfig" say?

I’ve had the R6100 several years and it has worked flawlessly during that time. My network configuration:
Desktop – “anchor” pc, XP OS, originally hard wired, now WIFI
Laptops- Win 7, WIFI connection, still connects
Win 8, WIFI connection, still connects
Win XP, LAN connection, now disabled
Smart TVs- LG, was LAN, now WIFI, still connects
Vizio, WIFI connection, now disabled
As you can see, I was using 3 of the 4 LAN ports.
I don’t want to get too far off into the weeds on a separate issue but several weeks ago, I had a simultaneous failure to connect on 3 of my devices. The XP desktop, XP laptop and Vizio TV all stopped acquiring the network. This occurred out of the blue.
After investigating, I found the desktop adapters were disabled. I uninstalled, re-installed, updated drivers and they were enabled again. But the system would not connect. That was first hint the cable was a problem.
The XP laptop had both LAN and WIFI adapters disabled. After trying to get them re-enabled, I kept getting code 10 error mssg. It won’t connect anymore.
The Vizio won’t connect wirelessly or cabled. I tried connecting both ways at a friend’s and it showed connection but “no download” when tested. That main board will have to be replaced.
The LAN cable failure is one thing, but the adapter interference is pretty odd. I work on computers and have never experienced anything like this. I think I was hacked but that is speculation, at this point.
The WAN-LAN test I performed is linked here. If there is another method, please post. I’ll try it.

I get both LEDs lighting up…one blue, one amber…on each of the 4 LAN ports. The way I interpret those results is that each port is active. Is that accurate? If I am reading the results wrong, we are wasting time trying to re-enable them.
Prior to coming here, I flashed the firmware to V1.0.1.14. I, also, had Suddenlink, my provider, to troubleshoot my modem. They ran a diagnostic and it’s functioning as it should. It’s a Motorola SB6141.
Here is my ipconfig data.

Maybe this post won't be removed...third time trying to respond.
Thanks for the link. The manual clearly says I can set the network up via WIFI connection.

Reset was easy peasy. I got my LAN ports re-activated as a result. Thanks for encouragement. I don't do much networking so it is a little foreign to me.

This is my fourth attempt to post. The first three posted and then disappeared. What's up w/ that?
