R6250 Keeps Dropping the 5G Connection Randomly
Ok, this particular issue has been flogged to death. I even reported it under another post as it seems this forum works about as well as the routers do (seems to have lost my user info....). Anyway, this not so cheap router keeps randomly (multiple times a day) dropping the 5G connection while keeping the 2.4G going without a hitch. And I know for a fact it is the router because my Roku doesn't do a fallback to 2.4G if my 5G goes down, it instead shows the connection error. When I immediately check my Pixel phone it only shows the 2.4G network as well with the 5G network completely gone (the phone obviously automatically falls back to the 2.4G when the 5G is down). So this is either a defective router or it is a fairly common defect since so many others report it happening in various other Netgear routers. I'm tired of dealing with this nonsense, as soon as I can afford a mesh setup I'm going to get one and chunk this paperweight.
Hi SpeedRacerXT,
1. What is the firmware version of the router?
2. Have you tried changing the wireless channel on the 5GHz band?
3. Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults?
4. Does the 5GHz signal broadcast again without any intervention (power cycle/reboot) from you?
5. Do all the devices that connect to the 5GHz band experience the issue?
