R6300 wired computer cannot see wirelss computers

Sometime in the last couple of months I lost the ability to connect to my laptop on the wireless network.  The laptop can see the desktop mapped drives through the wireless network..

I have tried turning the firewalls off, resetting the router, rolling back the latest firmware on the router.

I seldom need to access the laptop from the desktop, so don't really know when this started to happen.

Permissions on sub-folders do NOT necessarily inherit the permissions assigned in parent folders. You may have to explicitly enable sharing on the Desktop folder. Anyway, I suggest you take this to a Windows forum where you may be able to get expert help.

  • Did you enable the setting in Windows to make the laptop discoverable?

Yes, it has been working for a couple of years but somethig just stopped it.  I can see an icon for the latop in the Network pane.  But get an error when I truy to see the laptop.

Did you update Windows on the laptop recently? One of the major updates, like the Fall Creators Update, may have reset things.

Can you ping the laptop from the wired machine? If yes, then the router is definitely not the source of your problem.
