R6400 Genie will not go to the Basic Button for ports
OK first am I in the wrong place? My R6400 router not on the list
In any event, I have a R6400 connected to cable
This is wired to a Mac Mini late 2009 2.26 Ghz) running OS X 10.11.7
OSX Server 5.2 <please no Mac blah blah. If you don't know the answer, just ignore the question. Thanks)
I want to set up a VPN. Let's make this really complicated. I am on the other side of the world using Teamviewer set up on the Mac Mini and on a MacBook Pro 2011 Running MacOS 10.12.3
Teamview is 12.0.72647 <if that helps)
When I log into the router (no problem), it opens a page that says Netgear genie firmware is V1.0.0.24_1.0.13 < it says there is an update, but I am afraid this will disconnect me and there is no one near this router at the moment.
The 2nd tab "Advanced" is active and to its left the Basic button.
When I click on the Basic button, the router asks me to login and I do and click again and get a spinning wheel and then the Advanced Tab opens again.
Is there a way to force override- make that Basic button open_ set port forwarding/opening without going to the Basic tab.
Sorry for the length, but...Everyone always asks questions, so...trying to be thorough.
Thanks in advance

Hi hypnoregression,
The port forwarding/triggering option is under the Advanced tab (Advanced > Advanced Setup > Port Forwarding/ Port Triggering). You can also try using another browser. Also, we do not recommend updating the firmware if you are remotely located from the router.
