R6400, Nethawk error checking firmware

Netgear AC1750, Model R6400; using Nighthawk app, Router Settings, Check For Updates, always receive an error.

“Firmware Check Error

There was a problem checking firmware update”

How might I correct this?

  • Yea Netgear isn't going to provide anymore firmware updates to your router, either you use a third party firmware like dd-wrt that keeps it updated or just wait til your router dies and get a new one.

What is your actual firmware version? You can always manually update to the latest if you aren't on it. Keep in mind, there a version 1 and version 2 of the R6400.

    Find V2 here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r6400v2/

    And V1 here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r6400/

Click on downloads and compare the version you're on to the latest. And then manually update.

Are you having any other issues or just wanting to make sure you're updated?

  • Also, if you don't plan on keeping your router you can always put it on ebay and for sure someone will find a way to use it.

Thank you! May I say that not only is this a marvel of compact brevity, but is also freaking poetry. Thanks for making my day!
