R6400v2 connected printer does not show up on list of attached devices, and is slow or unreliable
This router is now several years old, so you'd think the bugs in the firmware would all have been worked out. Nonetheless, as I sit here, I have a new printer that often seems to lose connectivity despite a strong local 2.4 GHz signal from the router, and does not show up on the router's list of attached devices. I can visit its IP address and access its built-in web pages, I can ping it, I have fast internet connectivity over 2.4 GHz, but the router is not displaying the connection, and Windows is not printing to it reliably. It's not the printer itself; this unit is an unnecessary replacement for a 5 year old printer that worked fine for years, but then developed the same symptoms. This problem represents a security risk; I am wondering what else is connected to my network that I can't see. Netgear wants to sell me Armor for security, but that's not likely to happen until this gets fixed. I'm thinking the problem may have been caused by a firmware update, but I have no way to diagnose the problem or correct it. I'm probably going to buy a new router, but I'm going to be looking for a product with more than 90 days support from the manufacturer.

Have you tried simply setting the printer with a reserved IP address?
One of the problems with 2.4ghz is it has more things that can interfere with the signal so also make sure you're on a channel with the least interference.

And the current firmware version is? Please don't say "the latest". As often as not it isn't, thanks to quirks in Netgear's checking system. Only the number helps.
On diagnosis, have you looked at the router's logs? Have you checked that QoS is turned off?
