SmartConnect by Netgear router.. Do I want it on?
I have gigabit by att with 15+ devices like smart plugs and a few computers. Why would or wouldn't I want to use this feature? Seems like a good concept but of course I want my Xbox using 5g while my nest uses 2.4... Should I enable it? Why or why not Thanks for the advice.

Yes. SC is a good thing.

I would enable it for a couple reasons.
1. everything is moving to a mesh/single ssid network. Starting with a single ssid now means when you change routers in the future, you can reuse that same ssid and everything just reconnects when you update
2. ease of use. Most devices will auto-switch to the 5ghz if they're needing the bandwidth. It can usually take a couple days to figure out which band they end up on but the higher bandwidth ones tend to be on there
3. simplicity for others. My wife loves only having 1 network to have to work with. She doesn't have to worry what band to connect to or access point.

Why do you ask?
Your answer might help to sharpen the already detailed answers that you have received.
For example, perhaps you are concerned about setting up Internet of Things (IoT) stuff, which can be troublesome with smart connect.

Leave it to them to work out what to do.
