Why does my WNDR3700v3 Internet Light stays amber even though confirmed Internet Connected ?
As per WNDR3700 Manual the Internet Light definitions are
- Solid Green : An IP address has been received; ready to transmit data.
- Solid Amber : The Ethernet cable connection to the modem has been detected
- Off : No Ethernet cable is connected to the modem.
In my case for my WNDR3700v3 (setup in AP mode) the Internet light is amber and blinks
(which seems to indicate activity).
I have confirmed that internet connectivity is established and the there is an
IP address allocated and router seem to work ok, even though with some
reduced wireless throughput for UL/DL (5G ~250/250 & 2.4G ~ 40/70 Mbps)
Hence I was troubleshooting to see potential cause and noticed the "Amber" Internet Light
So why does the Internet LED not turn green ?
Aware that for LAN LED the color represents applied speed 10/100 Mbps (Amber) or 1 Gbps (green)
Though not sure if that applies for Internet LED as well
Input appreciated
Thanks in advance

Is the connection to the host router LAN port supporting of 1G? I presume if this is the case and the cable between the host router and 3700 is good, cat5E or cat6, and connected to the WAN port on the 3700 while in AP mode, the LED should return green.
Does the status on the WAN port display 100Mpbs or 1000Mbps on the 3700?
Check the 3700s user manual for LED behaviors and information.

Hi !
Thanks for input !
The connection to host Router from WNDR3700 should support 1G
(I have Cat5e cable as fixed install in house) and is connected to WAN port on WNDR3700.
When connecting to LAN Ports I get a Solid Green Light (blinking with activity) so also implies 1 GbpsAs per 3700 Manual Internet LED should be Green if Properly connected with IP address allocated (See enclosed)
These Internet LEDs does not seem to indicate speed (10/100 or 1000) as
done for LAN LEDs rather only connectivity.Nor able to find anything additional in user manual that explains Internet LED being solid (with activity) amber
that explains this.
So not sure if this is a Manual documentation omission or there is some issue with my setup ?

PS If I move host router connection from WAN Port to a LAN port on WNDR3700v3,
then LAN light indicated Solid Green (blinking with activity).
So seems to confirm I have 1000 Mbps (1G) connectivity between host Router and WNDR3700Sounds like this older model was supported in AP mode on it's LAN port then.
