Wifi Extender Setup - WRT1000v4

I am looking to use a WRT1000v4 as a wifi extender to my existing Netgear WNDR4500v3 wifi router.  I cannot seem to find instructions on how to set it up.  I did see a setting under Advanced / Advanced Setup / Wireless Repeating Function.   I set my WRT1000v4 to 192.168.1.2 (not used on current wifi) and input the MAC address of the WNDR4500v3 router.  I cannot seem to get the two to talk.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Both should have wireless repeating in order to set it up completely.

The only way to extend the signal is to connect the second router with an Ethernet cable from main router.

    Welcome to the community, THowe683

Can you verify the model WRT1000v4?

It seems that it's not in our list of routers/extenders.

However, to setup wireless repeating you can use this article as a guide.

      Sorry, my two models are:

Netgear 75 / N900 (WNDR4500v3) - main router connected to broadband modem broadcasting 2.4 Ghz and 5 GHz

      and

Netgear 38 (WNR1000v4) - spare, want to use as a WIFI extender for 2.4 GHz

Do you the Wireless Repeating options on both routers?

If you do, did you follow the link from the previous post?
