Sep 06, 2016WNDR4500v2 cannot upgrade firmware
When I log into the administration page for the router (WNDR4500v2) it notisfies me with the message: "A router firmware upgrade is available".
If I click at the message a new page apears with the text "Attempting to connect to Netgear Server. Please Wait...". This text never change.
I can cancel the attent and are now presented with the options to upload a firmeware file. I downloaded the firmware from this location:
Unziped the file and upload the "WNDR4500v2-V1.0.0.60_1.0.38.chk" to the router. But the router respond with "This firmware file is incorrect! Please get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct firmware for this product.". I have tried to download the file again but it still fails.
Any suggestions how to install the firmware?
Model: WNDR4500v2
Current firmware version: V1.0.0.56_1.0.36
Browser used for accessing the administration page: Firefox 48 and Internet Explorer 11.

Hi ElaineM
Thanks for your help. I did a factory reset and after that I was able to update. Must have been a bug in the Netgear software (or the router has been hacked and the netgear software modified to disable updates).
Best regards
Teela.

Hi Retired_Member
Welcome to the community!
Make sure that it's the correct hardware version.
If it is try to factory reset the router then do it again.
Mine worked properly when I did the auto update through the admin page and also by doing the manual upgrade.

There might have been a glitched in the software that's why after reset it worked.
Thank you for the update!
