5G disappeared

Why does my 5G disappear from from my WiFi settings? It shows up on my modem and on my log-in page, as enabled.   I called support and they want to charge me $100 to fix it!! it's only 2 years old. It's too bad a company like Net Gear needs to charge $100, to fix something that they made after just 2 years.  I downloaded the firmware, rebooted.. Still no 5G.. only 2.4g. Does anyone know how to fix this, so I can access 5G again?

thank you

Which Netgear device do you own?

What tells you that the 5 GHz has "disappeared".

What wifi client is this on?

What do the LEDs on this device look like? Is there a separate 5 GHz LED? (Most routers have one.)

    What login pages is this

What "modem" is this? A genuine modem has nothing to do with wifi and will not show nit any way. But ti does raise an important question, what is the modem is in front of this router, if there is one? The model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Your device, (if bought in the US) is a year out of date on the warranty. And support isn't free after 90 days. Its on the box and one the website. So I'm not sure why you're complaining about having to pay if you want them to "support you" and help fix it.

I get that it sucks to have a device go bad after 2 years but standard warranties are 1 year. Other regions have a 2 year warranty but you didn't put what region you're in. but even those regions only have 90 days of support free.

In terms of the issues. michaelkenward had some good points. You didn't give us much to go off
