ac1600 nighthawk drops internet connection to my android phone. network shows the printer instead

My new  (less than 2 weeks) ac1600 router works well then it will drop my internet connection to my samsung android phone. When I look at the network my phone is connected to it shows I'm connected to my wireless enabled HP printer. I changemy phone network back to my 5g network and it connects right away.

I live in a home and the printer is in the same room as my phone.

any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

  • 1. We still don't know what router you have.

    2. You're neighbors setup is going to be with different because its with a different isp.

    3. what modem/gateway is your router connected to?

    4. did you go into your devices and forget the printer?

    5. Did you setup the printer to connect to the router and not using wifi direct?

    A couple things.

    1. What router do you have? AC1600 is a speed, not a model

    2. Why not go into your phone and "forget" the printers wireless?

    3. why isn't the printer just connected to the network instead of broadcasting its own wifi network for "wifi direct" printing?

I thought the model was the AC1500.

I hadn't had trouble with the phone dropping or being changed to the printer until I replaced the router 2 weeks ago.

I helped a neighbor with an identical upgraded router and she informed me that her phone showed no internet access also. She said that after she power cycled her router her Iphone reconnected to her router. Her home is 6 houses away, and she subscribes to a different ISP than I do.

Because this issue is similar to my neighbors I thought I may have incorrectly set up both of the routers.

I used the Nighthawk application to set them both up individually.
