AC1900 Wifi Adapter internet cutting out for a few seconds.

Hi All,

I recently built a new PC, and for the most part I haven't had too many issues.
I installed my old wifi adapter to my new PC since I figured my AC1900 would have better throughput than the stock wifi adapter that came with my motherboard.

However, right after install I get this issue where my internet will cut out for 1-2 seconds at most (not enough to disconnect me from online games from what I can tell), and then it will re-establish connection.

I can also see this issue manifest when I'm in discord and have video going and I can see people's audio and video will stop for 1-3 seconds, and then continue.

This occurs fairly frequently (several (5+?) times per hour), and I can see the blue triangle on the wifi adapter itself start blinking, and then it goes solid once again once it re-establishes a connection.

Any advice or debugging steps would be greatly appreciated.

p.s.  There is always a chance that the WiFi adapter included on the motherboard is more up-to-date than the A7000 (WiFi5)  If the home WiFi network and the motherboard unit are both WiFi6 (802.11ax), that might be more effective than the A7000.

I'd agree with CrimpOn , if this is a new build, there's a good chance the built in is much better as the A7000 is quite old. What motherboard did you buy? Or what built in does it have? I've had a few pretty solid built in wireless cards. Or they have the option to upgrade the chip on the motherboard. Works great.

My motherboard is an aorus elite b850m wifi6e.

Through initial testing with the built in wifi adapter vs the ac1900, I was getting higher speed test results with the ac1900

Uses the old  RTL8852CE from Realtek. Not a horrible card but realtek isn't known for their driver updates. Options.

        1. Try updating the firmware on the realtek. Directly from realtek. Don't install the ones from gigabit.  It "should" be faster than the A7000 by a ways. But that also depends on your router. If the router is the bottleneck, it isn't going to make much difference. What router do you have?
        2. You also have to keep in mind, the realtek is triband. If you're a bit aways from the router, the 6ghz will drop off quicker in speed. How far from the router and whats in between the router-pc? (walls, what materials, appliances, etc)
        3. You can replace that wifi card pretty easily and cheaply (probably cheaper than the A7000). The intel AX210 is usually around that 15-20$ if you want to upgrade.
