Disable XfinityWifi network

I have Comcast/Xfinity as an internet provider and I would like to stop broadcasting their signal (Xfinitywifi) from my Wireless Router.

When I called Xfinity they said that only Netgear can disable it as my router is not an Xfinity product. When I called Netgear support, they wanted me to pay for support to do a factory reset and the person I talked to did not understand what I was trying to do.

I’m hoping it not the only person in the universe that wants to do this and someone can tell me what to do.

It would be very helpful for you to provide some additional details on your setup.  What is the brand name and model number of the modem/gateway that you use to connect to the Xfinity internet signal coming over the coax cable?

What is the model number of the Netgear Wi-Fi broadcast device you are using?  (Look on the nameplate)

      Hello,

I have the Nighthawk R7960P and a TP-Link TC7650 modem. I do not have any Xfinity Equipment which is why they couldn’t help me when I called them.

The TP-Link looks like a modem only box.

There is no indication that I can see that the xfinitywifi is from something on your network.

You don't say where that picture comes from. A mobile phone? A PC?

From the Preferred Networks heading it looks like a wifi network that your devices could connect to. Not networks that you are transmitting.

If that is something you see on a mobile phone, then it may be a service that xfinity provides for customers to use when they are out and about. Or maybe something that you can pay for when travelling.

As Kitsap says, you haven't provided enough information.

If you have an Xfinity modem/router from, then that's where to look for the on/off switch for the Xfinity wifi.

If you have an Xfinity modem/router connecting your Netgear router to the Internet, it isn't just the wifi that you may have to think about.
