Don't buy a Nighthawk X10... or any Netgear
I received this unit as a present early last August and it just died yesterday (late this August... just a bit over the 1 year warranty). It seems Netgear uses the cheapest components it can get away with that last just long enough for them to not have to replace them. From what I could see, the tiny heat-sink fan viewable through the mesh on top stopped spinning and the unit burned out. This thing cost $450 (I think it was $500 at the time). That is a lot of money for something that only lasts a year... and a few days. It is less expensive to just pay your ISP $10 a month to rent their unit. Don't buy this item... don't buy anything from Netgear. If you (likely) already have, get rid of your unit before it dies.

Whats actually going on?
Maybe it didn't die or there's a different issue.
Its tough to tell without actual details of what's all going on.
Does the power light come on?
What are all the led's on it doing?
Have you checked the power supply?
What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

All lights except the internet conectivity light comes on. My phone connects via wi-fi but there is not internet. When the issue occured, I shut the router down, unplugged it and let it cool down for about a half hour. The device was really hot to the touch, not burning hot but more than warm. I plugged it back in after is was back to room temp to the same result.
I contacted my ISP to see if there was an issue on their side. They tried a reset a couple of times to no avail. I attempted to log into my router but I didn't even get a login prompt.
There is a fan visible through the mesh on top of the device and I can see that it isn't spinning. The fan looks rather cheap, like something that would burn out if it ran non-stop for a year, something it would need to do.- plemansGuru - Experienced User
what modem/gateway are you connecting the router to?
