I have a AX1800 mesh extender that contects great to my router with hard wired ethernet cable and using my nighthawk app, but as soon as I disconnect ethernet cable, signal on extender is lost. I have tried everything. It configures to my router while hard wired, firmware is upto date, just loses signal as soon as unplugged from router

when you setup an extender, you can set it up 2 routers.

    1. in access point mode. That'd be hardwired into the router

    2. in extender mode. that'd be wirelessly connected

If it only works hardwired in, you set it up in access point mode. If you're wanting to use it as an extender, factory reset the extender and reinstall it using the installation assistant. make sure to choose extender mode during setup.

factory reset the extender. Push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds.

Then install using the installation assistant.

don't have it plugged into the router during install. (or after unless you re-run the installation to set it up in the proper mode)
