Firmware & Remote Management Question

Hello,

I did a bit of searching but I wasn't able to find out exactly what I needed since most of the previous discussions were already closed. Basically, I am on V1.0.11.136_10.2.120 with my R7000 Nighthawk Router. Remote Management has changed to Web Services Management and it no longer works like I need it to. I chatted with NG Chat Support but it's limited since I am out of the warranty period. The support agent suggested that I can do the same things that I need to with the Nighthawk application on my phone but I do not see the proper settings.

The end goal for me is to be able to log in remotely to my router and enable port forwarding to be able to remote control devices in my house. I was able to do this before but with this FW, I am not able to.

My questions are:

1. Am I missing something in the Nighthawk App where I am able to do this now in there?

2. If not, does anyone know the highest FW Version I can go back to that has Remote Management like before?

#2 seems like my only fix for all of this from what I can tell but I wanted to check first.

For security reasons, Netgear has disabled the old style of remote management.

Why is the Remote Management feature being removed from NETGEAR routers? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Anywhere Access does not have the same level of control.

    No can do.

There may be other tools out there that will let you achieve your goal.

michaelkenward thanks for the info. I will take a look at that link. So more or less if I want to have that feature the only thing that I can do is roll back the FW to a previous time when it was there. I feel like this might be a better solution rather than keeping the port forwarding settings on when I am not using them.

You can set up Port Triggering instead of forwarding. Will close ports after a while of no usage.
