firmware update for R7850
every time i try to update firmware thru download genie it never updates. When i download from the website and extract it to try manual update it says wrong file and aborts. what is going on with this firmware? been a problem for over 12 months
Do i need to update? router seems to be working fine for what i am using it for. Are there security issues that could be an issue?
Firmware Version installed:
V1.0.4.42_10.0.1
Firmware Version 1.0.5.84 is what i am downloading and trying to update to.

Are you updating using a wired PC and web browser connected with routers web page at 192.168.1.1?

You're going from original release firmware to 10 versions newer. Have you tried a staggered approach? Maybe one of the older firmwares expand the partitioning size and are needed. I'd try staggering it versus going all 10 versions right away.
where would i find the older firmware updates? i have been trying to update this unit for 2 years with the same problems. when I had the support from net gear they couldn't even get me updated.
