Hotfix 1.1.0.92
Today I received an email from Netgear saying I should install this 'security update'. When I try to do so using my router's browser interface, it says there are no updates available. I am currently running firmware v.1.1.0.86_1.0.1. When I go to the router's support page at the Netgear website, it says what I already have is the latest firmware. I did find the download page for 1.1.0.92, which calls this a 'hotfix', and the zip file it is in has the word 'beta' in the name.
So...is it wise to install this or wait until they've done a little more testing with it? Have any of you tried installing this? I'm not loving the word "beta".
Thanks. :)
A hotfix is firmware that may or may not make it into a final version.
If you look at the release notes you should see a clue as to what it does.
It may be something trivial that you can ignore.
Those mailings are standard Netgear practice. Think of them as marketing messages. They usually have not much to do with any recent firmware update for your hardware. Netgear just presses a "send " button from time to time and splatters the planet with email messages.
