Is my NightHawk R7800 dead?

(Win10)

Was noticing very high latency on a game. Decided to factory reset the router. When using the Nighthawk App to set it all up again, I cannot connect. I've tried 4-5 times with the app. My phone's wifi settings says I am connected to the router but I cannot access the internet. Cannot reach routerlogin.net. I can connect the desktop with ethernet to modem just fine. I've reset everything a lot. Tried IP release and reset. Proxy off. All that and more. 3+ hours worth. What am I missing? I always miss something. I just can't get the app to get past that very important connection part... Is the router fried? bricked? toast? It's about 3 years old. Thank you for any help.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Set up the router with a wired PC or laptop and web browser.

I wouldn't try reaching your router with the netgear app. I'd try either wired or with the phone that says its connected. Instead of using www.routerlogin.net try it through 192.168.1.1. Let us know if that helps or to see what happens.

      Wow. Thanks for responding everyone.

Forgive me - I can't figure out what Firmware the router currently has. If there's another way besides accessing the router webpage, I can't find out how to do it - I searched best I could before responding. I attached a picture w/ the info on the back of the modem (Charter modem).

I tried again disconnecting/reconnecting everything to try to access the router (routerlogin.com + 192.168.1.1) but I cannot - only 'problem loading page'. My phone and my ipad will still say it is connected to the network when I have it all plugged together, but I cannot access the internet on either. When I bypass the router with ethernet cable, my desktop gets internet just fine (which is how it's hooked up now).

That doesn't tell us the make and model number. Google isn't much help either.

The reason for asking, as FURRYe38 did before I did, is that ISPs sometimes provide modem/routers that can get in the way of adding a second router, your R7800.

That can get in the way of routerlogin.net

If the modem does not have a row of Ethernet ports on the back, there is a high probability that it is not a modem/router.

Did you follow the sggestui0n from wcalifas and connect the router to the PC? I can't tell from your explanation of what you have done.

Do it with nothing else in there. Away from the Internet.

You should be ab le to get into the controls in that way.

Remember, when playing around with these things, timing is crucial. You can't just flick switches at random.

It may help to reboot the whole network in the right order.

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

        • Turn off and unplug modem.
        • Turn off router and computers.
        • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
        • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
        • Turn on computers and rest of network.

As well as the other questions, what modem/gateway sits between the router and the Internet?
