Looking for advice

I been using the Nighthawk R7000P since 2017 without any issues that I know of.

So this is my first time here and wanted to know are there any things I should be doing to be sure I am getting the most out of my router?

Thanks for any help.

Are you running current firmware (1.3.3.154)?

No I'm not I have V1.3.3 140, today when I tried to update the firmware it said there was no newer versions. I knew there was I saw it on the downloads page. When I tried to unzip it some didn't seem right so I deleted it until I find out how to get it right

        What didn't seem right?

The firmware file inside the zip is R7000P-V1.3.3.154_10.1.86.chk

The chk extension is a bit weird, that that is what Netgear chose to use.

Users often report that their Netgear router fails to discover new firmware.  Since Netgear provides no documentation about how firmware updates are supposed to work, we are left to speculate what might cause this.  Downloading the firmware and then using the Manual Update feature is the way to install firmware that the router does not discover by itself.

When the firmware image "chk" file is extracted from the zip file, Windows may describe it as "recovered file fragments".  Pay no attention to that.
