Lost access to Buffalo Linkstation NAS after firmware update and reboot of X10 R9000
I'm using Windows 10 pro and have an X10 R9000 Router that's been working great since 2019. Two days ago I installed version V1.0.5.42 firmware update and rebooted the router. Since then I can't access my network drive. When I log into the router it's showing as an attached device but at times it doesn't have any IP address. I've refreshed and rebooted again and restarted my PC and It finally shows an IP. When I use NAS Navigator 2 program to view the drive I'm able to see information like IP, default gateway, subnet mask, mac address and firmware version but I can't browse any folders. I get a message that "The shared folder cannot be opened". Tried to map a Share while still in Navigator and get message "Could not map the Share. Create Folder named Share before mapping drive. When trying to access the drive in windows explorer I get a message that "The remote device won't accept the connection". Help for this problem would be much appreciated. Since I had no problems with accessing the NAS prior to firmware update and reboot I have to assume that it changed something.

A couple of quick options.
In Windows settings from your computer:
Settings -> Network & Internet -> Status -> Properties
Verify your network is profiled as Private
Scroll down from the Status screen and try the Network Troubleshooter.

Network is, and has always been set to private and troubleshooter can't identify the problem. Since both the router and NAS are out of warranty I don't have access to their factory support so can't get help from either of them. I really need the data stored on the NAS.

I am leaning towards it being a Windows configuration issue. Lots of events come out of Redmond every day that mess with settings.
See attached for some Network instructions to see if you can find access to your NAS.

Windows is also good at throwing out changes that break things. Every time it updates I have to mend stuff.
Having said that, my Linkstation has survived many a Windows update. Now on Windows 11.
I'd start with what Kitsap suggests.
To check if it is firmware, you could roll back to the one before your NAS died.

Not sure how to safely roll back to previous firmware. I've always logged in to router from my computer to update, but I don't see an option in router settings to accomplish that. I don't want to do something wrong that might brick my router. I downloaded the previous version from the Netgear website but I'm not 100% sure if it's the one that was in use prior to updating to the latest ver. It might be possible that I missed an update. Is it safe just to run the downloaded update, or do I need to perform any other steps first?

How do I manually upgrade firmware to my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Experienced users prefer that to the automated process.
It means that they don't rely in a possibly flaky Internet connection to make it happen.
Whatever you do, make a backup copy of your current configuration.
