Netflix blocked on Nvidia Shield TV with Live Parental Controls enabled

I am unable to play Netflix videos on my Nvidia Shield TV when Live Parental Controls are enabled.

If I use OpenDNS filtering with similar settings and manually specifying the OpenDNS DNS server IP addresses, Netflix works fine. I know that the OpenDNS filtering is working because changing my filtering settings makes the corresponding change in filter behavior.

Netflix also works fine when I use the DNS servers specified by my ISP.

On other devices - Windows, Android devices, iPad - Netflix works flawlessly even with Live Parental Controls enabled. It is only the NVidia Shield that is affected by Live Parental Controls.

The Netflix app doesn't give me much more information about the failure. Also, the diagnostic feature of the Netflix app on the NVidia shield says everything is working, even though it is not. Looking in the Netgear logs doesn't yield any helpful information about what is being blocked.

Be sure that your setting up parental controls for each device and configuring allow or block settings.

Review the user manual for making settings for each device.

I do not understand precisely what you are suggesting. Nowhere do I see reference in the user manual to specifying parental controls per device. The closest thing I see is allowing a bypass user and a trusted device, neither of which I have not configured.

Nor do I see any settings in the Live Parental Controls that specify allow/block. I see filtering options which do allow me to "block" (as you mentioned) different categories such as Alcohol, Drugs, ... but again, I see nothing that lets me configure this per user or per device.

I do see reference to setting up access control by device, but that is merely allowing or disallowing a specific device to use the network at all. My Nvidia shield is able to access the network and pretty much anything on the internet, including Netflix for the purpose of browsing show listings and such. The only thing I've found to not work is watching Netflix shows.

Are you saying that I need to install NETGEAR Genie on each device that I want to use Live Parental Controls? If that is the case, there is no version of NETGEAR Genie that can be installed on the NVidia Shield TV. Also, I don't see how anyone could come to this interpretation from the user manual.
