netgear nighthawk ac1750 r6700v2 - ready to purchase; question...

very newbie here - opportunity to purchase this unit and start cox internet service - this unit calls itself both a modem and router, but cox furnishes coaxial connection - this unit has no coaxial connection - so questions;

1.) will it work on cox system

2.) if so, what do i need to complete hookup and installation?

Thanks much

    What is "this unit"? And where did you get your information?

    The R6700v2 is not a modem/router. It is a basic Nighthawk router, first released about five years ago but based on a 2014 model.

    You would need a modem in front of it, unless your Internet service provider uses an Optical Network Terminator (ONT).

    cox furnishes coaxial connection

    That is probably cable internet. It needs a modem.

    Most ISPs insist on providing their own modems. Sometimes they provide modem/routers.

    The preferred setup is to put a modem-only device in front of a router. This is especially important with cable internet because ISPs will not allow you to update the modem's firmware. With a separate router, you have control over the device and its firmware.
