Nighthawk AC1750

Since the day I purchased my router (a year before), I have been getting speed around 150 mbps even though I had a plan of 400 mbps from my ISP. All these days I thought the issue was with my ISP.

Recently I added some devices in my home that would need high Internet speed, so I upgraded my Internet plan to 600mbps. But then also I am getting a speed of 150mbps. I called a technician to check the issue and found out the problem is with my netgear router. When directly connecetd to the ethernet, I am getting more than 600mbps speed. I tried updating my router with the latest firmware but I continue to get 150 mbps speed. Can someone please help me on how to fix this issue? Thank you in advance.

Current firmware - V1.0.4.122_10.0.95

  • I was reading some discussion on this forum and found that some of the issues faced by users were fixed by downgrading the firmware to V1.0.3.66_10.0.50

I did the same and immediately my speed jumped to 350 mbps.

Is there other ways I can bump my speed to what I pay for ? My Internet plan supports 600 mbps.

Please let me know. Thank you!

    You have the R6700?

What modem/gateway is it connected to

How are you testing speeds? Wired? wireless

What device are you testing on?

If you have qos, traffic monitoring, parental controls, or access control enabled, disable them and reboot the router.

Those services require packet inspection and the R6700 doesn't have the cpu to do packet inspection above certain speeds.

I'm in the same boat and have been reading a lot of threads with a similar problem but not finding any good resolutions so will be following in case you hit upon what is needed!

Quick question: How were you able to downgrade your firmware to V1.0.3.66_10.0.50? I did a factory reset last night but it just reset back to V1.0.4.122_10.0.95.

Just changed our ISP from Xfinity to RCN and am supposed to be getting 1gig speeds. When I plug ethernet cable directly into computer we get around ~800mbps but speed tests over Wifi are only getting around ~200mbps.

        So, probably a similar setup.

It might help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Yes it does have a modem - Netgear CM1100 multi gig Speed cable modem

It is only a modem and doesn't have a router.

Please let me know if this answers your question.
