Nighthawk c7000v2 will not work with OpenDNS
hi, just got Xfinity and the Nighthawk C7000v2 modem/router, and have been trying to set up OpenDNS like I always used with my old Century Link system. I followed OpenDNS instructions, added the DNS addresses, and worked for the "test" example, but did not filter any porn sites at all. Contacted OpenDNS, they ran diagnostics, and said I needed to disable the IPv6 Firewall and use IPv4. There is only an option on Genie to disable IPv6, and did so. Still doesn't work, and OpenDNS has washed their hands of it, said I have to talk to Netgear. Netgear support was not able to log in to my computer, so I'm stuck paying for a service contract, or figuring out some way to do a probably simple fix. Anyone else figured out how to make OpenDNS work on the newer Nighthawk C7000v2, and now that parental controls are not supported anymore? Thanks.

instead of disable ipv6, are you setting up the dns settings to run of opendns's settings?
What actual settings do you have in the router for the opendns? (screen snips help, black out you mac info)

thanks; used the two recommended (and that I've used in the past). Since there is a third row (Tertiary) here, I also tried filling that in with the secondary DNS address, but that doesn't work either.
(can't figure out how to paste my "snip" in here, but attached as a file).
For the IPv6 aspect, I simply went to the Advanced tab and IPv6, and selected "Disable". There isn't anything to tell me it is now on IPv4 but what else is there??.
Use These DNS Servers
Primary DNS 208 67 222 222.
Secondary DNS 208 67 220 220
Tertiary DNS .. currently blank, but tried 208 67 220 220 per OpenDNS helpdesk; that didn't work either.

Not sure if the C7000 actually support disabling ipv6. have you logged into the router to see if you can disable it?
IPv6 can be something set by the ISP with modem/router combo devices.

Yes, everything done within the Netgear Genie menu.
I called Xfinity, NO help (must be Netgear's problem).
Called Netgear, wouldn't even talk to me since 90 day warranty up (even though only had it for a month thanks to Xfinity taking 3 months to bury my cable!). So, finding no other answers, I guess I punt on OpenDNS (their helpline suggested same), and try Cloudflare or something for filtering. That is all I'm loooking for. Thanks!!
