Nighthawk R7000 vs R8000
I'm looking for a new ac wireless router and want to know which of these models is the best. What are the pros and cons of each router?
- Sep 27, 2014Well i just pulled the trigger on the R7000. Usually i go for the latest and greatest but it sounds like the R8000 still has some bugs to work out and the R7000 more then meets my needs. :)

hello
chatting with supporting teams about 7000/7500/8000, it have appeared that regarding to the number of bands, a tri-band router would have a better ability to route messages between a higher number of connected users (approximatly 20users per band.)
So a tri-band router like R8000 would be able to support 60 connected devices instead of 40 max with a bi band.
From Europa/France/paris, I had issue to get a R8000, waiting for one within 10 days.
As example, support-chat advice me that for my network with:
- DG2200M used as backuped modem (adsl/3G-4G)
- DGND4000 head of LAN and DHCP server
* direct access for admin
* R8000 : professionnal use with 4 other smart and manageable switches
*WG602 game use
* GS110T and 2 other smart and manageable switches
R7000 or R7500 would be too weak to handle users (total connected devices : more than 40 among 70 devices and 110 IP)
As of today they are bought but not there so I cannot confirm advice or give more return from experience.
