Nighthawk X6 AC3000 R7900 latency to ISP

Since the FW update to the version seen below, I have had a significant delay through my r7900 on both wired and WIFI.

Email - both Outlook and gmail do not sync on first/second/third attempt - takes 4 or more times send/receive, web pages do not load and time out taking 3-4 times reloading / refresh.  Cache cleared in all my browsers.

ISP Speed tests directly from the R7900 QoS are consistently > 350 megs down and >18 megs up

If I bypass the R7900 router and plug directly into my Gig speed Docsys 3.1 cable modem, there is no latency, everything works without delay.

My config is:  ISP to Arris Surfboard T25 Cable Modem Ethernet Port to the R7900 Ethernet port all CAT6 or CAT7 cabling.

I also have Nighthawk AC1900 EX7000 Extender coming off a wired port of the R7900. The extender used different SSIDs.

I have factory reset the R7900 back to factory defaults several times and recreated all my WIFI SSID's, but left all other settings correct.

I have also factory reset and had my ISP recommission my Cable Modem several times troubleshooting

HW Version R7900

FW Version V1.0.4.46_10.0.53

GUI Language Version  V1.0.4.42_2.1.44.1

I had no problems with the same configuration and the previous FW on the R7900, no latency.

I have disconnected the EX7000 from the system, still latency and the Ex7000 has zero configs other than setting up the WIFI SSID's, I have listed all IP.s in the system and traced each one and identified what the devices are by IP and MAC.

USB Share is disabled and AP is disabled, and all guest accounts are disabled, and all WIFI is stealth/no broadcast

The delay is in the R7900.  I have tried all sorts of R7900 configurations, removed all wired devices except one PC, swapped wired ports and disabled the WIFI ports, rebooted dozens of times after different configurations.

So I either have a MitM inside my R7900, which would be in FW, or the R7900 is defective with the current FW version.

I have been waiting for another FW update, but I doubt one will ever be released as this router is +3 years old.

I'd like to flash back one rev in FW to verify the FW issue, but cannot locate the binary.

Please spare me the troubleshooting scripts, I have been through the basics several dozen times.

Okay, I downloaded the previous version of the FW flashed the FW back to

    Firmware Version V1.0.4.38_10.0.50
    GUI Language Version V1.0.4.38_2.1.44.1

The latency is GONE! AND the pages now refresh literally in a FLASH of the eye as they should.

That CONFIRMS the issue is with the latest FW.  I will try to flash again to the latest by downloading directly from the NG site as the Router update should have, and see if the Latency returns.

I am not real comfortable going downlevel in FW due to the fixes are security bugs.

So how do I protect from the security flaws that have been patched / updated in the latest FW update?

So downgrading to the last FW is really NOT a "solution" because it negates security patches updates of the new version

Thank you for the response, and I appreciate your question eventhough  I know I wrote a lot of information where I did say I have repeatedly REBOOTED and factory reset, and that I do not need scripted answers.

So the short answer is YES, of course I rebooted after the FW update, which BTW the Router does automatically after flashing the FW, and I rebooted after each change in configuration (also an automatic function in the Router)  when I was trying to find the cause of the latency problem inside the router.

Since I have had this latency problem I have probably rebooted EASILY 20-30 times, factory reset at least 5-6 times, rebuilt my configs from scratch, and the latency exists no matter what I do.
