Nighthawk X6S AC3000 Tri Band WiFi Router ...internet keeps timing out

Hi, I'm a newbie here, so be kind! 😉

OK, after two weeks of thinking it was my PC, I think I've narrowed down the problem to my router. Here are the facts:

1) just realized today that my husband and I are having the exact same problem

2) internet service seems fine

3) in a nutshell, it doesn't matter which site we try to access on our PCs and phones, there is a lag. So much so that we invariably get the 'This site can't be reached' page (see attached). We can hit reload several times and it does ultimately come up.

4)we've tried different browsers, same thing.

So, by process of elimination, we've come to the router. Any suggestions? I'm really fairly ignorant about it, my son set it up and now lives across the country.

Oh, and I did do a quick check online and discovered that Orbi has 'performance issues' and was last update June 9, which may have been about the time this all started. But, I don't know what Orbi does or how to fix the performance issues..

  • Try auto detect on the ipv6.

The .88 firmware version has some dns issues that we've notice.

For many people, using ipv6 fixed it.

others downgraded to an earlier version.

What modem/gateway is it connected to?

What firmware is on the router?

do you have IPv6 enabled? If not, enable it and test.

Log into the routers web page at 192.168.1.1.

IPv6 could be enabled and thats ok. That's also on the routers web page under Advanced tab/Advanced/IPv6.

Please give feedback to the other questions as well.

        Try a different browser.

Be sure to clear out ALL browser caches as well. Then close and reopen the browser then try web sites.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What devices do you have all connected?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Is Armor, Circle, Traffic Meter enabled?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

      Hi Furrye38

OK, so I am uncertain where to find info on firmware, devices and channels, but Modem is Arris TM1602G. I know I've seen a site where I should be able to find all this info, but I just need a wee bit of direction to get there.

I have two wifi neighbors nearby.

I just performed the reset that you recommended, following the steps in order and for appropriate time. When I got back on I tested several sites and was feeling very optimistic in that they were coming right up and quite quickly, to boot!

I clicked over to this page to tell you that, and don't you know I received the page again! see attached.
