No Internet Connection (Netgear Nighthawk Router R6700v3)

I am using a Motorola Modem and a Netgear Router AC1750 with no problems.  I wanted to try a new router - so I purchased a Netgear Nighthawk R6700v3.  I'm using the same Motorola modem and connected the new router. The new router is broadcasting an SSID to my computer - but I can't get an Internet connection.  Any thoughts?

    what motorola modem is it?

    Try this.
Disconnect everything from the modem and the router (even coax from the modem).

    Power them down.

Leave them off a couple minutes.

Connect coax back to the modem and then power it on.

    Wait a few minutes.

then connect the modem to the router (lan port on modem to wan port on router)

    Power the router on.

    Wait a few minutes.

Attempt setup of the internet connection

Thank you for your response!!  The Motorola modem is model: MB7420 (certified by COX cable - my ISP).  I'm connecting the yellow port on the modem to the yellow port on the router.  I don't understand the difference between the LAN port and the WAN port.  The only CAT port on the modem is the one yellow.  There are five CAT ports on the router - one yellow and four black. I'll try your suggestion as soon as I can (might be tomorrow).  Thank you.....
