Port forwarding on R7000 not working (fiber & VLAN)

Hi all,

Last weeks I have been puzzling with port forwarding on a R7000. I hope someone can help me out here.

Setup:

Fiber (1 Gbit) connected to Optical Network Terminal (ONT) little white Huawei box. From this box the cable is going directly into the WAN of the R7000. So no ISP modem in between.

Installation:

Firmware V1.0.11.134_10.2.119. After that no settings changed except for wireless and VLAN (required bij ISP). See picture.

Problem:

I want to open multiple ports (5000-5001, etc) for my Synology NAS. This is not working. I use NMAP to check out if ports are open. I am able to open the port for external access, but not any ports via the port forwarding menu. All the ports that I try are observed by Zenmap, but have the STATE: filtered. However, turning down the firewall didn't work.

So, what can I do?

Personally I have the feeling it has something to do with the fiber/ONT. Couple of weeks ago I switched to fiber from T-mobile. The standard modem experienced the same problem; i.e. port forwarding didn't work, but if I opened the external acces, the open port was shown.

Hope you can help me out!

  • Hi all,

Thanks for helping out. I found the solution. The problem was on my NAS (the DNS server on BOND 1 was false). After giving the NAS a static DHCP and on the NAS set this on ' automatic' the connection was resolved.

After all it was a rookie mistake. However, the learning is that if your port scan gives a state FILTERED or STEALTH, the port is actually open, but the application on the internal LAN is not correctly configured.

    Cheers
