R7000 AC1900 smart wifi router update firmware
My 8years old R7000 router shows firmware = V1.0.11.106
When I ask to check for firmware-updates, the answer is: you have the latest firmware version.
And when I search in Netgear Support for the latest version of firmware it shows V1.0.11.136.
Is it safe to download that update and install it manually ?
thanks,
Hein

Yes. Use a wired PC and web browser. MS Edge or FireFox.

Thanks for the advice.
I discovered the difference between firmware versions because the power on/off button was red, and sometimes
white, but on and off white. I read that this was a sign of bad internet.
The router is 8 years working now. Should I replace the AC7000 by a new router ?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
I would ensure the ISP services and modem are in good working condition first...

The on-board check for new firmware is not reliable.
The on-line system can take time to catch up with the versions on the support pages. Sometimes they never catch up.
