R7000 AC1900 totally "bricked" after attempt to update to latest firmware

Latest Firmware upgrade ended up totally "Bricking" my router,

Followed all hints to get back up and running first thing that appeared to be screwed up was the Hard Reset after power on did not seem to follow suggested behaviour.

I attmpted the TFTP procedure from my Mac but that failed 0 bytes transferred.

Not a great advert for a product just over a year old.

Any suggestions..

thanks

I'll just go look at "many threads", then, all of which said exactly
the same thing(s), to figure out what you did?  Guess again.

       Which "a fixed IP"?

    > [...] using the command lin prompts [...]

Which commands?  As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with
their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more
helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations. Copy+paste is your
    friend.

    > [...] i got amsg indicating [...]

What was the actual message?  Again, copy+paste is your friend.

Not a useful description.  What does the router do? LED indicators?

Not a useful description of anything.  What did you do?  What
    happened when you did it?

Which "suggested behaviour"?  And even if we knew exactly what didn't
happen, more useful would be some description of what did happen.

Which "the TFTP procedure"?  "attmpted the TFTP procedure" is not a
useful description of a procedure with multiple steps and multiple
user-supplied data, hence multiple opportunities for error.

..... Router never restarted Power Light was flashing Amber and the  Lan ports that had cablesconnected were flashing intermittently.

Attempts to power OFF and reset using the reset button failed

Googled the fault and there were several threads that explained that the unit had to be had to be rest and that using the TFTP process as decscribed in a number of threads woudl fix the issue.. this was done immedietly the fault (Firmware upgrade failed)

Following guidance from other threads, the Unit was powered off, then with the Rest Button pressed, the unit was suppossed to show the Power button perminenmtly on then starting to flash, after flashing 7 times or more i could release teh reset button. at which time the power button would light steadily.  none of this happened.

the  TFTP proceedure which is documented in many threads, to down l,oad the Router firmware, unpackit, then using the command lin prompts start a TFTP link using a Lan connection to the router with a fixed IP set up, which is supposed to upload the selected firmware into the router,  this did not happen as i got amsg indicating 0 bytes transferred.
