R7000 amber light when connected to Motorola MB7621 modem
Xfinity 200 MBps service. Connecting computer directly to router via Ethernet cable I get 240Mbps on Speedtest. When I connect the modem to the router (yellow port to yellow port), the router Internet light goes to amber. I’ve tried factory resetting the router and also power cycling the modem. Still doesn’t work. Any ideas on what else I could try?

power off the modem and router. disconnect the coax cable from the modem and all devices from both. Wait 2 minutes.
Then connect coax back to the modem. power it on and wait a couple minutes for it to fully boot.
Then connect it to wan port on r7000.
power the router on and wait a couple minutes.
Try setup/usage.

"Connecting computer directly to router via Ethernet cable I get 240Mbps on Speedtest."
Do you mean connecting computer directly to the modem? Othwise, I can't figure out your post(?)

What you're doing is powering off both the modem and the router. disconnect everything from both including coax from modem. then waiting 2 minutes.
You're giving you isp time to release the ip address it might have assigned prior.
then you connect the modem back to the coax and power it on.
Give it time to fully boot.
then connect the router to the modem.
lan port from the modem connects to wan port on router. ]
Then power the router on and give it a couple minutes to fully boot.
then try to setup the router.
- CscholppAspirantI connected the computer to the modem to get Internet, not the router. Sorry for the mistake. I’ve tried the other solutions listed (disconnect everything... wait 2 minutes... even waited overnight....) without a positive outcome.
