R7000 new install. Getting 'no router found'.

I can see the router being broadcast on my phone, but it has no internet connection. It should connect to my existing home router. I cannot access the router using ANY of the methods mentioned. Routerlogin.net doesn't work. Using the ip address doesn't work. The Nighthawk App just says "router not found". Can anyone help me please?

At the start the App says, " issues connecting with NETGEAR83". The phone is connected to NETGEAR83.

What modem/gateway are you connecting it to?

If you're connecting it to a previous install or router, try the 10.0.0.1 address while connected to the r7000.

If you're in a double nat it changes its ip address and sometimes routerlogin doesn't work because of the double nat.

A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
    1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
    2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
    3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.

Thanks for the reply. However I cannot do any of those functions as I appear to have zero access to the Nighthawk.

You have two routers in your network?

    What are they?

Hello. The second router is a normal Fritz Box. It's the household router. I intend to use the Nighthawk as a VPN router, if I can ever connect to it that is ! I live in Germany.

If I connect the Nighthawk directly to my PC via an Ethernet cable and Ping 192.168.1.1 I get no response.
