R700p reboots randomly
Hello,
I am running into an issue where my R7000P will reboot itself during the day. Not sure why this is happening but it is awful strange. I am trying to troubleshoot this but since it happens intermittently it is difficult to diagnose. I took a look on the web and it appears that the latest firware is 1.3.2.126. I am running version 1.3.1.64_10.1.36 on the router. When I go to the advanced tab and select check for firmware update it says No new firmware version is available. So now I am suspect.
I thought I would go to the logs and see if there was anyting in there that would give me a clue. I go and try and send my self the logs but I cant seem to get the router to send anything to my gmail address. I did some digging and I have tried smtp.gmail.com ports 465 and 587 but neither have worked. I used to have the logs working on my R7000 router until that one died so I am not sure why it doesnt work with the 7000P.
I turned off auto update today to see if that is causing the issue we will have to see. I recently purchased the router and it was working fine for several months but now the router has become unreliable. Working from home like everybody else has made this even more inportant. Oh yeah also now that my College kids are taking their finals on line I cant afford to have the network go down. The router is plugged inot a UPS so power supply to the router is not an issue.
Any Suggestions???

What I'd try first? updating the firmware to the newest version.
You can download it from the support site and manually update.
get the firmware, manual, guides here:
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r7000p
and heres a walk through of how to do it.
https://kb.netgear.com/23960/How-do-I-manually-update-the-firmware-on-my-NETGEAR-router
After updating, see if it works right, if it doesn't, do a factory reset and a clean install (not from backup). Reason why is the R7000P got the netgear armor upgrade and some old settings can sometimes cause issues.
If that doesn't help then we could potentially try downgrading to the version prior to netgear armor and see if it was an armor issue on your device.

Ok so I just was able to download and update the firmware. I will have to monitor this and see if the re-boot issue is addressed. I did stumble upon something that might be worth noting. It appears that several weeks ago (10/27) I downloaded and installed the Netgear Genie software. I am not sure if this caused the issue or not but I thought I would share it.

12/7 Update Well still having an issue and th router was nice enough to drop right in the middle of one of my college students final very nice. I will be doing a reset to factory later today. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. It might be time to move my entire organization to another brand.
