R8000P firmware download failure
Still unable to run update, tried multiple browsers, and from IOS AP. IOS AP goes through motions and reboots, but never shows new verison. From firefox I see this
and then fails to update new GUI language version.
What is the fix for this?

How old is the router? If its still within warranty, you can contract netgear support.
If its out of warranty and you're inclined to try, there's a method another person on the forums found.
Solved: R8000P V1.4.1.50 Update workaround - NETGEAR Communities
Device was purchased Aug 12, 2020 paid $279.00 plus tax, but should not matter, a device should accept the firmware required without question. The device is not damaged, the process to upgrade the firmware is. A user should not have to maintian a support contract to load firmware.

For some reason the .50 version won't accept a firmware update.
so you're option is to try to contact support and see if they'll replace the router, or you can try the workaround I suggested.
Or you can leave it as is.
Up to you.

download the firmware update file manually from R8000P Firmware Version 1.4.2.84 | Answer | NETGEAR Support
extract the file, login into the router, go to the advanced tab, adminstration, then router update, click browse and browse to the file and install manually. I couldn't get the auto check and update to work, but manual install worked fine and confirmed new firmware version installed.
Thanks for the information. Downloaded the file, on the fence about attempting to manaul upgrade. Two work from home user. (my wife and I). Really can't afford to brick the device, may try over next weekend.

If you do try it, good luck!
