R9000 stopped producing 2.4ghz & 60ghz - crashes rapidly after connecting to 5G

Hello, I have a nighthawk x10 R9000, firmware 1.0.5.42.

This has been running issue free for 5years plus, I suspect hardware repair is required.

It has stopping being able to produce the 2.4ghz, &.60ghz band, and crashes quickly after establishing a 5G connection.

I am able to connect to the router via LAN connection, 2.4, 5g and 60 are all activate, and I changed the channels, they still are undetectable by smartphone or laptop. I attempted to do a firmware update but cant get into advance settings.

Assistance please.

I love when people complain about a 10-year-old device failing and saying their not going to buy from this company again. There's a failure rate with all devices, and that increases with age/time. 10 years is a pretty decent lifespan and I'd be happy if all my electronics lasted 10 years. But you do you.  I've heard some good things from the Synology lines doing great things but I haven't seen any Wifi 7 devices from them. Asus/Tp-Link have been pretty solid.

If you really want to get adventurous, get a mini-pc and build your own router. Then you can just add access points to it.

The reason for not buying netgear again is it was intentionally made to prevent repair.

The 2.4ghz/60ghz module i linked above has both surface mount variant and a m.2 slottable variant, with the excessive amount of space left on the board using the surface mount variant was a clear 'F u' to the customer

At this price point, you shouldnt be blocking the end-user from repairing your device.

Ontop of that when you google netgear support you get multiple false numbers to security scammers located in India.

It's very clear netgear does not care about their end users.

This router model is 10 years old. Really not worth it. It's been long EoL. I wouldn't waste your time on it. it lasted this long and you expect to it last forever? Not really realistic expectations. Electronics don't last forever.

I found good used ones online for cheap. I still have one. Loaded with Voxel FW. Only used in testing.

Might give a 30-30-30 reset and see if this changes anything.

Manually reload FW again. Also give Voxels FW a try as well as he is carrying on with FW updates for the R9000 since it's EoL with NG official FW.

If all this doesn't change anything, router may need to be replaed, OR, disable ALL radios on the router and install a external wifi system in AP Mode, something like a Orbi or Nighthawk MESH system or any wifi AP that can be ethernet connected to the R9000.

No. Nothing that can be repaired. Unless you have deep dive equipment. NG doesn't offer repairs either.
